Green Homes
Michigan's First LEED Platinum Gut-Rehab

Doug Selby is not new to energy efficient remodeling, but his company, Meadowlark Builders, was the first in Michigan to grab LEED Platinum for a gut-rehab. There was a long list of goals - create an adaptable home with better connected spaces, relate to activities homeowners John and Karen are passionate about (like bicycling and vegetable gardening), seriously increase the home's energy efficiency (not hard when starting with a HERS rating of 216), deal with all stormwater on site, and work health, comfort, and responsible use of resources into the whole equation. The success of the project had a lot to do with making it a team effort from the start.
